As part of the hotel's 10th anniversary, the St. Regis Atlanta underwent property-wide renovations, including a new outdoor garden terrace called The Garden Room. Designed by the Johnson Studio at Cooper Carry, the new 3,070 sf terrace is enclosed with a vaulted glass-and-steel roof as well as operable sliding windows around the perimeter to blur the lines of an indoor-outdoor experience. Inspired by the St. Regis' legacy of luxury, the terrace's design takes a maximalist approach to a quintessential Southern garden party. A fantastical white tree sculpture serves as a focal point behind the large outdoor bar. Seating is outfitted with highly decorative floral fabrics and fringed pillows in emerald green and magenta fuschia to juxtapose the geometric patterns and color motifs found inside the St. Regis in its Atlas restaurant, also designed by The Johnson Studio at Cooper Carry. A variety of live plans and trees are showcased on ledges and trellises through the greenhouse-like space, with uplighting used for a dramatic effect.
Atlas is known for its rotating gallery of impressive works from The Lewis Collection, one of the world's largest private collections of 20th-century artwork including pieces by Picasso and Monet. Commissioned by The Johnson Studio and made in Italy with hand-cut glass tiles, a mural reinterpreting one of Gustav Klimt's portraits of Ria Munk pays homage. The Garden Room won ICSC's 2021 Restaurant Design award.
