Roy Richards Memorial Gymnasium at Berry College

Cooper Carry renovated the Roy Richards Memorial Gymnasium in 2013. Previously built in 1937 and first renovated in 1986, we updated the interior to serve as a combined office, teaching, training, and classroom building for athletic and academic programs.

The building is approximately 33,200 square feet with a basement. The main level with two partial mezzanines overlook the central gymnasium on the main level. The men’s and women’s locker areas, located in the basement, were renovated and subdivided to provide space for varsity lacrosse and tennis. The weight room was reconfigured to house the varsity football lockers and future shell expansion space. Offices, dance space, and a multi-purpose gymnasium are located on the main floor. The dilapidated pool was filled with engineered material to support a new slab on grade for approximately 6,000 square feet of new strength and physical training facilities and public restrooms.

The facilities are open to all students and offer something for every level of athlete.
