Innovation Academy provides rigorous and relevant instruction in the STEM sectors of Information Technology, Engineering, and Health Sciences. The project is housed in the old Milton High School, and the traditional design of the exterior blends with the downtown Alpharetta area. The interior design capitalizes on collaboration through the creation of a central three-story atrium, known as Touchdown Commons. This space houses both the media center and cafeteria to create the ‘Starbucks effect’ in this communal space, where students can eat, collaborate, and socialize throughout the day.
This project was designed by Cooper Carry’s K-12 Studio in collaboration with Cooper Carry’s Higher Education Studio and Science + Technology Studio. This unique blend of experience provided for vocational and career readiness strategies and specialized STEM design. Master planning services were provided in anticipation of the school’s growth, creating room for a future gymnasium, additional cluster classroom wing, and music and drama program. The modern space ensures that Innovation Academy can fully support up to 1500 students interested in pursuing the sciences.
