Cooper Carry was tasked with creating a campus plan for multiple sites along Clemson University's iconic Lake Hartwell. The goal was to expand the university's offerings and support student success and wellness. Initially, the plan focused on the Snow Family Outdoor Fitness and Wellness Complex at the lake.
Cooper Carry provided highly collaborative and integrated conceptual design workshops for university staff and leadership to reach a consensus on site selection and campus planning. The analysis included strategies to preserve natural resources and site planning for the long-range build-out. Planning the athletic fields was critical to allocating available space for building structures.
Cooper Carry's team also developed a campus plan for the University's lakeside conference center, inn, golf course precinct, visitors center, and parking. The plan included a future growth analysis, a long-term building expansion plan, and a lifecycle analysis of interior finishes, MEP systems, and service access.
The outcomes of the campus planning included a successful short-term build-out of the campus recreation precinct, right-sizing fields per functional requirements while maximizing space use, enhanced conference precinct parking that is maximized for future building needs, and multiple awards for one of the completed projects—The Andy Quattlebaum Outdoor Education Center.
