Developed by American Real Estate Partners (AREP) and designed by Cooper Carry and RD Jones Interior Design, CityHouse Old Town in Alexandria, Va. involves the conversion of a former 1980s-era, 200,000-square-foot office building into luxury apartments in the high-demand DC Metro area. Located at 1101 King St., the 200-unit office-to-residential conversion features a variety of floor plans, including studios to deluxe three-bedroom apartments with a den to accommodate hybrid work, along with private terraces for most homes, offering an indoor-outdoor space.
The design team honored the integrity of the original design by keeping much of the exterior the same and within the architectural vernacular of Old Town Alexandria, which is known for its brick facades and abundance of Federal-style architecture.
Originally constructed prior to today’s zoning restrictions, the seven-story property, with its six-story interior atrium, rises above the surrounding buildings and provides panoramic views of Old Town, the riverfront, and DC monuments. Residents will have access to a concierge, private club suite, a rooftop social terrace, coworking spaces, ample parking, and a state-of-the-art fitness facility. Located in the heart of Old Town, residents will be just steps away from access to the King Street Metro Station and have a wide array of food & beverage destinations just outside their door.
The project broke ground in early 2024 and is expected to be completed by the fall of 2025.
