The facility, a state-of-the art Medical Education environment, includes technology enhanced classrooms, clinical skills, clinical simulation using high-fidelity medical mannequins, an Anatomage medical virtualization lab and laboratories for gross anatomy, pathology and histology. A new collaboration ‘commons’ and medical library draws students and faculty together in a shared environment with sky lighting, natural materials and open meeting rooms. Laboratories and clinical skills spaces have been designed to simulate the real world of team-based patient care with student and actor/patient interactions that encourages communication skills and provides immediate feedback by means of both synchronous and asynchronous digital technologies. These state-of-the-art medical education facilities are designed to combine two important pedagogical strategies: 1) small group learning, which helps students integrate medical science; and 2) clinical skills, and diagnostic reasoning, which is the foundation of excellence in medical care.
