Cooper Carry is working with Holder Properties and the University of South Carolina (USC) Development Foundation to deliver planning and design services for 737 Gateway, a mixed-use, off-campus, private student housing project. Located at the edge of the University of South Carolina campus, next to the university's sports arena, the building will provide much-needed housing for USC students while activating the street experience along a major thoroughfare.
The 12-story residential building will offer informal social and group meeting spaces, a fitness center, a rooftop terrace, and a parking deck. The units will have between one and four bedrooms. Along the base of the building is space for future retail tenants, including an anticipated coffee shop. A 40,000-square-foot academic innovation center is planned for the primary corner of the building and will serve as a resource to the USC community.
With connectivity in mind, the building is designed to integrate with the surrounding community and downtown Columbia. Currently in development, 737 Gateway is expected to be complete in August 2025.
