Andrea Smith

Andrea Smith serves as Cooper Carry’s Chief Legal Officer. She joined Cooper Carry in 2006 after having spent eight years with an Atlanta law firm which specialized in commercial construction and government contract activities. Andrea was named an Associate Principal in 2015. She graduated with honors from Valparaiso University with a Bachelor of Science in Geography. Andrea continued her educational pursuits, attending Southern Polytechnic State University. Graduating with honors, she earned an Master of Science in Construction Management. A 1998 Cum Laude graduate from Valparaiso University School of Law, Andrea serves as the firm’s in-house counsel, providing guidance and leadership in contract law, mediation of legal disputes, and general adherence to and application of the law. Andrea works closely with key decision makers in the firm to insure that Cooper Carry has properly reviewed every aspect of the business decision in order to minimize risk, reduce costly litigation and promote an equitable alliance with clients, consultants and vendors. In addition, Andrea has been instrumental in directing the development and implementation of corporate policies including social media policies, corporate signing policies, and BIM standards. Further, Andrea advises on regulatory issues for the Firm and its professionals to ensure compliance with applicable local, state, federal and foreign requirements, codes and laws.
