Atlanta Metropolitan College, Academic Science Building

The Academic Science Building at Atlanta Metropolitan College is designed to improve the availability for state-of-the-art teaching laboratories and classrooms. This signature building is located at the main entrance to the campus and establishes the College’s identity along Metropolitan Parkway. Spaces include teaching laboratories with prep rooms, storage and instrumentation labs for biology, microbiology, anatomy and physiology, organic and inorganic chemistry, physical sciences and pre-engineering/general sciences, four undergraduate research laboratories and an autoclave room. Student community spaces and study rooms are dispersed throughout the building with a larger open student study area as the lobby and science gallery part. Classrooms of various sizes range from 36-120 seats as well as a 60 seat TEAL classroom (Technology Enhanced Active Learning). The TEAL room maximizes flexibility as the room can be divided into two rooms with a movable partition. All classrooms are equipped with high-end audio-visual equipment to allow a state-of-the-art classroom learning experience. In association with Paul Cheeks Architects, Cooper Carry is the design architect and lab designer with construction administration support.
