The Commons at Lake Hearn is a multi-building medical office park repositioning project led by a collaboration of Cooper Carry studios including Office Workplace, Interiors, Landscape Architecture, Experiential Graphics and Branding. To attract new tenants, the Cooper Carry team was charged with a thorough rebranding effort, interior and exterior renovations, façade alterations, hardscape, and landscape improvements. A new parking deck is also included in the scope.
The interior renovations included new common areas, a conference center and a restaurant (The Grille). In the lobby, a gently curved, wood feature wall with soft backlighting brings movement into the space, connecting the outside with the inside. New MERV-13 air filtration systems, chillers and air handling units were also added to improve air quality for the building's occupants. The exterior renovations encompass rain gardens, patios and a 12,000 square foot arbor canopy. Geometric, frame-style lighting features were applied to the façade of the buildings as a simple, yet effective way to transform the buildings from old to new.
After an in-depth location, competition, and demographic market analysis, the Branding team at Cooper Carry worked with the client to rename the property The Commons at Lake Hearn. The name was derived from the positioning of the buildings around multiple green, common spaces. The inspiration for the logo was based on new box-like lighting features being applied to the façade of the buildings. This linear style was adapted into the visual brand and designed to also feature a “TC” for The Commons within the logo mark. The Branding team also worked hand-in-hand with the architecture and interior design teams to ensure the brand was infused throughout the property.
