Since establishing Cooper Carry in 1960 with Walter Carry, Jerry Cooper has helped guide the firm to a position of national prominence. Under his tenure, Cooper Carry has received more than 100 design awards, including 19 from the American Institute of Architects (AIA). Jerry has been honored with the Bernard B. Rothschild Award, the highest award granted by AIA Georgia, as well as the Ivan Allen Award for Community Service. He currently practices in the Education, Office, Corporate, and Government Studios and is active in the design of K-12 schools.
Jerry is a graduate of the Georgia Institute of Technology; he also studied at the Universita di Roma in 1957 in Rome. He is a member of the AIA, the Urban Land Institute (ULI), as well as the National Council of Architectural Registration Board (NCARB). In addition, he has been a member of various AIA Task Forces: the National Task Force on Long Span Design, the National Task Force on Ethics, and the National Task Force on Re-certification and Registration. He has served as a member of the National Board of Directors of the AIA, and as former president of its Atlanta Chapter. Jerry is registered to practice architecture in 27 states as well as the District of Columbia, and is a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Accredited Professional (LEED AP).
