Westgate Elementary School

Falls Church, Virginia

The Westgate Elementary School project includes renovation of 50,000 SF and an addition of 40,000 SF. Renovation work includes upgrading all major existing facilities and systems. Additions house the new administrative office, library, and an additional classroom wing. Westgate was designed to meet recently adapted Virginia Collaborative for High Performance Schools (CHPS) standards and will be one of the first schools in the state to be designed to CHPS standards. Sustainable features include proper solar orientation, high performance HVAC systems, day lighting, a white roof, outdoor learning spaces, and a small green roof to serve as a teaching tool for the students.
