The University of North Georgia Student Recreation Center and parking deck includes a 58,000-SF building over a 600-space parking deck. Program elements include three regulation size basketball courts, fitness and free weight areas, a 35’ climbing wall, 1/10 mile running track, aerobic spaces, offices, and locker rooms. The project gives the growing student population the opportunity to exercise individually and participate in intramural sports. In addition, there is a central entry plaza connecting this facility to the central campus and adjacent town. The recreation center tower is an iconic focal point for the campus. The overall project served as a catalyst in connecting campus facilities, open spaces and student interactions.

This exciting new structure, along with its adjacent plaza and parking deck…has played a transformational role in the quality of student life on our campus. In just a few short months, the building and its surroundings have become a new center of campus life, bringing new energy and vibrancy to a previously underutilized portion of the campus — Mr. Mac McConnell, Vice President for Business & Finance
