TD Bank Corporate Campus (formerly Carolina First)

The TD Bank Campus (formerly Carolina First) was planned as a recognizable and environmentally sustainable corporate campus on a 65-acre brownfield site. Substantial regrading of the property was required as part of the toxic mitigation requirements, and the client set out to achieve a strong visual identity along the bordering I-85 corridor. Cooper Carry was selected as master plan architect, corporate building architect and landscape architect. We worked collaboratively with a Greenville based interior architecture firm and an affiliated architect hired for the conference center component. The zoned site plan accommodates over 1 million square feet of corporate development. Initial planning work provides for 4 office buildings and the conference dining facility. Currently, 2 of the 4 office buildings have been completed and occupied totaling 225,000 square feet. The site master plan has been realized, a large lake constructed and the site reforested with new tree cover. As needs are identified the conference facility and additional office buildings will come on line. The project has been awarded LEED-NC Gold for the site as well as the two first phase office buildings. These highly sustainable office buildings incorporate enhanced energy saving mechanical systems, a variety of solar reflective glazing and green roof landscaping on the upper level terrace decks. High priority was given during design to incorporating recycled as well as regionally produced materials. Special water conservation, rainwater harvesting, plant palette and sustainable site materials were all key components of the project’s LEED AP objectives.
