Capitol View is a large mixed-use development that creates a place that is authentic to Nashville and encourages people to live, work and play, all within walking distance. Cooper Carry developed the 32-acre master plan seeking to create active, lively public spaces in a walkable, engaging pedestrian experience. The right balance of office, retail, residential, hotel, entertainment, open space, and parking achieve a 24/7 environment. The master plan also incorporates Nashville’s Greenways and bicycle trail, promoting a diversity of transit options.
Cooper Carry also developed design guidelines for the entire development, provided full architecture and interior design services for two blocks of the development, and provided site-wide wayfinding and signage design services. The architectural design of the buildings recognizes the history of the site. The Bruton Snuff and Marathon Motor Works buildings located to the north of Capitol View are brick clad mill structures of historical importance. To honor these historic buildings, we used brick and metal to clad the new structures and placemaking elements such as embedded train rails in the triangular park.
The project was named NAIOP Nashville's 2017 Development of the Year,
