Hannah Spates LEED AP BD+C, LEED AP ND, LEED AP O+M, Fitwel Ambassador, Well AP

With more than seven years of experience, Hannah Spates is a seasoned sustainability consultant who brought her expertise to Cooper Carry in August 2022. During her childhood travels through US national parks, her passion for the environment grew, igniting a lifelong commitment to protecting them.

After receiving her bachelor’s degree in Ecological Technology Design from the University of Maryland, Hannah began her field experience, testing the air and water quality of newly constructed and existing buildings. This allowed her to develop a deep understanding of the critical factors that contribute to healthy and sustainable indoor environments. Motivated by her passion for creating greener spaces, she transitioned into a sustainability consultant role, focusing on helping buildings achieve various green building certifications, such as LEED, WELL, Fitwel, and the Living Building Challenge.

In her current position as Sustainability Lead at Cooper Carry, Hannah collaborates with clients and design teams to develop and implement innovative strategies which result in resilient, efficient, and impactful assets. On any given day you can find her educating those around her on topics from material sourcing to energy conservation measures. Hannah holds credentials validating sustainability efforts with third-party certifications, such as LEED, WELL, Fitwel, and BREEAM. Her diverse experience and genuine dedication contribute to Cooper Carry’s mission of creating sustainable spaces that positively impact communities and the environment.
